Leave it up to Wendi to give us a good ole bossy, biggety Bahamian woman’s anthem. It’s literally City Girls up by 10 with this joint that the Song Bird recently dropped…and we are here for it.
Ms. WhatYouKnowAboutIt dropped the first single, “Tell Her Come,” from her upcoming album Unboxed and girl, if you haven’t listened, please go give your ears a treat.
It’s a no holds barred, tell it like it is, “ine even playing with this broad nor this dude,” song that preps every woman (whether she’ll need it or not) for if another woman ever thinks she wants to come to you as a woman.
LitFluential caught up with Wendi on the day the single dropped and she says it’s inspired by a friend of hers who actually went through a similar situation.
“This is a story that’s been happening from time started and this situation is no respecter of women. This could happen to you if you’re a waitress, this could happen to you if you’re a lawyer. But I just think that so many times when we are in situations like this, we, as women, we become silenced or shamed. And this song is taking the perspective of not being embarrassed and not being shamed and actually explaining and detailing a relationship that has infidelity but from a position of strength. I don’t think that’s really a perspective that’s talked about enough from women in music as it relates to a relationship gone bad.”
Sis, we get it and we appreciate your take on such a taboo but oh so popular topic. The track was written by Dyson Knight, Anwar McDonald, Wendy Lewis-Knight and is produced by Freddie ‘Gotstykz’ Seymour and Leonardo ‘Sniper’ Rogers.
With a track this hot, we can’t wait to see the video, which drops May 13! Tell Her Come is streaming everywhere you get your music! Go run up the numbers on it!
