Local Rapper has a Few Questions for The Prime Minister

If we were to go around asking random Bahamians, “Why you vex?” we’d probably get a laundry list of social ills: crime, VAT, poverty, unemployment, taxes etc. In an upbeat, crafty rap song, Bahamian rapper Nassaw Brigante tackles all of these issues and has several questions for Prime Minister Perry Christie and his government on how they plan to tackle them.

In the song Letter to the Prime Minister Nassaw questions the government on all the social problems bombarding the country today and sheds light on the fact that so many Bahamians are looking for hope, help and answers to the very same questions. Better yet, he asks the prime minister what are regular people like us supposed to do when daily acts of crime reach our doorsteps, we can’t find jobs and food and the taxes are mounting?

With bars like:

“Ask them what we gon’ do about all this crime. Told me sit the f#@$ down, n!%%@ wait your time!”

“Can’t afford to buy food, so I guess I’ll die.”

“Adding taxes to everything that I want and I need, by next year, I’ll probably be paying to breathe.”

This song is really putting a lot of people’s reality on front street and striking a serious cord with what’s going on in the country. Check out the video below!

If you had the chance what would you ask the prime minister or the government? What social ills are you most concerned about?
