Well as many of you may know i’ve shot some of the country’s most beautiful women in every perspective our great country has to offer. One of them though. holds a special place in my compact flash memory because she was the first model that I had an opportunity to photograph. Sherice Major is one of The Bahamas’ upcoming models who definitely has the drive to make it that next level. After her older sister introduced me to her back in 2002 (maybe) , i’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow up in the game, from a novice model just taking pictures for fun, to a model booking jobs with local companies for big campaigns and as of late making steps to secure here space in the the international game. She got all it takes to make it happen so me and my good friend sat down for some real talk on the Bahamian Modeling Industry and where she sees herself in the game. (by Farreno Ferguson)
So how long has it been #1? 6-7 years?
August 10th, 2002…my birthday!! I remember it like it was yesterday, we both started off together, each other’s muse….I could still remember those hard rocks out by Jaws Beach..and that doberman pincher by Goodman’s Bay!

What was your original reason for getting into modeling?
My aunt was a former Ms. Caribbean Queen. I can remember wearing her crowns throughout the house and strutting. I also got started in pageantry. I looked up to her and wanted to follow in her footprints. I suppose I loved being the center of attention. I also wanted to be a weather girl, but at the age of 10 no one would hire me so I chose modeling…
What do you consider your modeling strength?
My strengths…let me be real!…God has blessed me with specific assets that I maximize to the fullest potential 🙂 …lol…and you love my abs! don’t you F.Dot! My strength has always been in swimwear. When you find what you are good at you capitalize on it. I am 5’2 ish on a good day, with a fairly nice body. Therefore, I’m not going to try out for runway modeling. Print modeling and swimwear are my thing…. I throw on my bikini and make money!
What has been your biggest modeling gig so far?
Everything I’ve done thus far in my opinion has been big for me. They have all helped my career in one way or the other. There’s Hawaiian Tropic, Sands Beer and, KING Magazine. All have significance to me so it’s hard to say which has been the biggest. Sand’s has helped to further propel my name locally, while being Ms. Hawaiian Tropic ushered in a accolade (i.e. the first black girl to be featured in their calendar); that with my feature on KING Magazine’s website has garnered me international fans. (Yes! I actually have fans 🙂 )
[ Ok cool so what’s that one job/cover/contract you really want?]
Wow! One job that i REALLY want.. well there’s two, but, Victoria Secrets is THE JOB!….I can see it now…other than that is Sports Illustrated….If anyone knows me…I’m the queen of swimwear….
Where do you see ShericeM the MODEL in the next 3 years?
To be honest. I’m a free spirit. I take each job as it comes, one day at a time, but, in the next 3 years I hope to see ShericeM the model internationally recognized as a swimwear, print model and commercial model. I see ShericeM in New York, Miami and L.A not only as a model but as a budding actress and television host and a brand.
Any words of advice to models coming up in the game who maybe looking up to you?
My advice to all models is that individuality and personality are keys to success. Blaze your own trail in life in order to set yourself apart from the competition. Be you, be real. When I started out in this industry I could name Bahamian models on maybe one hand, now I’ve lost track. The industry is saturated therefore you have to be the best at what you do because there are so many options, you have to make a name for yourself. Professionalism will take you far in this business. Always remember that you will always need people. The more professional you are the more jobs that you get. Find yourself a good team. Start with F.Dot! He’s on my team..;) Think outside the box, and don’t be put in the box. Always have a plan b and a plan c. My plan b and plan c were school and work. Last, make sure you enjoy doing what you do, because I do!
