Did You Catch This Military Wave? JuneKWoods Drops New Collection!

Bahamian fashion designer Nykarlio “Kooly” Ferguson had us all standing at attention when he debuted his latest collection from his JuneKWoods clothing line, and it surely did put a new, trendy, sexy spin on an all-time favourite print.

It was indeed a Military Wave as the young designer shared his S/S ’20 line with the public recently. There were dresses, pants, crop tops, sheer and mesh, cut-outs, blazers, biker shorts…you name it! He told eLife242 that the Military Wave line was inspired by the bold and sexiness of the always on-trend camouflage print.

“Pairing it with every other textile such as scuba, net and mesh helped to bring my ideas to life and highlighted the beauty of this often times understated timeless print. To stay true to our brand that was birthed in my hometown almost 10 years ago, I paired each piece with custom seashell jewelry hand crafted by Waist Beads Bahamas. “

Kooly says for as long as he can remember he was obsessed with sketching fashion illustrations adding that he’s always had a knack for creating new styles and designs.

He says producing the collection and runway show was a year’s long journey, travelling the world to find the best of the best in textiles.

“In fashion, the show is obviously where we get to present to the world what we have worked on each season. And with every collection, designers get to bring meaning to their designs as they strut down the runway. Chris Hall who is the creative mind behind the production, creates an amazing platform to further tell the story. In order to ensure our audience got a chance to engage with pieces much more, he choreographed a set that mirrors what we see already happening on the international stage.

Our models turned to the audience for a final look which gave each member the opportunity to truly see the intricate and exacting attention to detail in our collection. ”

For Kooly, next on the team’s to do list is mass manufacturing of the collection. He says it will become available on his website next year. Pre-orders can be placed via email at JuneKWoods@gmail.com or direct message via Instagram @junekwoods.
