I think we all gasped a collective “WTF!” when it was announced that the bridge toll was being doubled from $1 to $2. Like seriously, did y’all even get Sir Sidney’s approval to do this to the people? (well not really sure if he cares but … WTF?)
With the cost of living already super high in The Bahamas, this new proposed fee hike doesn’t seem to be sitting too well with many people who are already struggling to make ends meet in light of VAT and now the looming NHI.
We’re not so sure how the powers that be came to this decision, although we read somewhere that the money will go towards maintenance, repairs (aka Politicians Pockets), upgrades(aka Politicians Pockets), blah, blah, blah! The only thing I’ve ever seen changed, fixed or otherwise altered on the bridge are those fancy Milano ads and posters! Bucket trucks, construction work, sealing cracks or upgrades? NOPE! Anyway, as mentioned, I don’t know who made this decision but I have a pretty good idea who the fall guys are.
Here’s who people MIGHT place the blame on!
Anyone between the ages of 14-18 – Those teeny boppers who couldn’t wait for the weekend to come so they could jam packed Marina Village and make those poor security officers really earn their pay. From the fights, the rows and leaving the tourists with no where to sit. Y’all caused this!
The Fit Bit Crew – The workout after work; I have to get rid of this baby fat runners might be to blame too! All that running, pounding on the pavement, chipping away at the cement structure! And why would you come on a Monday after that Sunday feast you had?! You caused this! (but we admire your ambition)
The “I’m-going-to-Aura-but-don’t-wanna-pay-$16-for-valet-Crew – I’ve had many (MANY MANY MANY MANY) nights in Aura Nightclub over the years, so maybe it’s my fault too! But everyone knows those people at Atlantis been tired of us parking by the food store and making the long walk to the club. Who was paying $16 + VAT for parking when that could very well go on a drink?! HMMPH! Furthermore, we’d much rather jam pack Olives, The Moon Bar, yes, Aura, and other restaurants before paying that valet. No thanks, we’ll walk! They’re finding other ways to get that money back!
But on a serious note how do you feel about this crazy hike to get over the bridge. They expect to implement this new $2 fee as of March 1.
