Photographer Aaron Davis is rolling with the big dogs. Aaron who actually celebrates his 18th birthday today, is quickly becoming one to watch in the local photography sphere.
In just a short time, Aaron has been able to capture the attention of so many people and was also able to book major events like weddings, highly publicised parties and other big gigs around town, as he continues to brand himself and develops his business. eLIFE242 recently chatted with the young entrepreneur.
“I was always interested in looking at photos. It was like I would always see photo albums and be so fascinated with memories,” he said.
Aaron tells the story of watching and idolizing the top photographers in the country and trying hard to work with them on photoshoots. He would always get rejected. But rejection didn’t stop him from picking up a camera anyway. Aaron said while he was forced to watch from the sidelines and wasn’t booking humans to shoot at this time, he took advantage of subjects that were readily available; animals, plants and anything in nature.
Still, no jobs were lined up and no photoshoots were planned. He still wasn’t being called on to shadow the big shots in the game. But one day he got the push to keep knocking at the door of photography from, arguably the most inspirational place you could find. One day he says he was at a church conference three years ago and his pastor handed him a camera and instructed him to go to the front and take photos.
“I fell in love with it again that day and ordered myself a pro camera that night.”
Although he’s already hit the ground running, Aaron says he knows he has so much more work to do to tailor his craft and he’s doing that by studying the works of some of Nassau’s acclaimed photographers.
“Bahamians can look forward to more weddings, commercial shoots and more themed shoots. Also, look forward to a big collaboration that’s going be a major surprise to a lot of people!”
