Top Fete’ing Tips this Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival

Well as The Bahamas is on the cusp of it’s 1st Junkanoo Carnival and many Bahamians are still virgins to the whole carnival idea (including us) we figured we would give you our top tips for surviving a Carnival Weekend with out incident.

1. If you see a woman in heels leave her alone! – Any woman who shows up to a carnival party and or concert in heels obviously is not into any type of ‘wining or juking’. In fact she will more than likely be paying more attention to actually keeping her balance through the night to check for you.

The parade takes it toll

2. Proper wine etiquette – now The Bahamas is a special gem in the caribbean when it comes to dancing in a party aka we ain’t as free with the wining and juking as others in the region. That being said; Fellas if you pull up on a bumper and the bumper refuses, do not be offended she may just be shy or prefers to dance by herself and her friends or the wall all night! Ladies try not to refuse every dude in the Fete’ and if that is a must, try to let them down as easy as possible.

3. Drinking – Do it! (Responsibly) It will take off that edge of inhibition and allow you to get into the vibe a lil easier . If you are not a drinker do your best to keep your energy up and avoid giving the people getting turnt up the evil side eye.

(Quicktip: A bottle of water for every two drinks will avoid you having to be fireman’s carried out of the party.)

4. Come Prepared – the wrong clothes, too much clothes, and no weave protection are all good ways to not enjoy a good Fete’. Worrying about your outfit, Your hair getting wet or scuffing your new Jays should be the last thing on your mind at a fete’ or soca party and TRUST no one else will care. So please do your best to dress for the action at hand.

(Quicktip: Ziplock bag your phone in case things get wet.)
